On August 17, 2021, “Tiankun”,the largest heavy-duty self-propelled cutter suction dredger in Asia developed and designed by the China Shipbuilding Group No.708th Research Institute completed the water blowing test and all pre-work preparations, and will be put into the construction of the dock and harbor pond and channel dredging project of Jiangsu Binhai Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project.
According to the introduction, in the construction in Binhai Port, Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, “Tiankun” will transport the submarine sediment to the blowing area 15 kilometers away through the pipeline. This is also the first time that the “Tiankun” has challenged the longest ultra-long pipeline distance in China since it was put into production.
“Tiankun” is a new generation of China’s self-propelled cutter suction dredger independently developed and designed by the 708th Research Institute, which was successfully launched on November 3, 2017 and put into formal operation in March 2019. “Tiankun” is 140m long, 27.8m wide with a maximum dredging depth of 35m, a total installed power of 25,843 kW, and is designed to dredge 6,000 m3 of mud per hour, making it the largest, most intelligent, most powerful, and world’s most capable self-propelled suction dredger in Asia. “Tiankun” is equipped with 6,600 kW cutter, which can easily excavate rocks with a single side compressive strength of 50 MPa, and the mud pump has a conveying power of 17,000 kW, with conveying capacity of 15 km which is the largest one in the world.
In the construction of Jiangsu Binhai LNG project, “Tiankun”, as the only domestic vessel that can meet the construction requirements, officially challenged the longest blowing distance of 15 km in China, and overcame many difficulties such as many rocks and debris in the construction site in the sea, no shelter around, large waves and tight schedule. Many difficulties, once again show its hard-core function as a big national vessel “being capable to dig hard rock ultra-long transport distance, environmental protection operation and intelligent operation”.
Yancheng Binhai Port in Jiangsu Province is one of the key port sites for the implementation of the coastal LNG receiving terminal layout plan from the Ministry of Transport, the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration. The port radiates to the north of Jiangsu Province, Anhui Province and Henan Province, and is one of the important gas sources for the coastal natural gas pipeline planned by Jiangsu Province in the 13th Five-Year Plan. It has an important strategic position to make up for the natural gas shortage in Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and other areas and to increase the proportion of clean energy in the region.
Zhenjiang Marine Electric successfully completed the project of the 5,000KW self-propelled cutter suction dredger developed and designed by the 708th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Group by providing: the whole ship power cabinetsand control boxes. “First-class team, first-class management, first-class products, first-class service!”
